A Taste of Christmas…

On Friday the 11th of November, 120 invited guests helped to launch the 2011 Christmas range at Bottega Rotolo SA and also to give it the all-important taste test! There is an incredible range of new Christmas confectionery that has just arrived from Italy, along with some traditional products and well-loved favourites from previous years. Rosalie introduced some of the newer brands and gave those attending some background on the producers. Guests on the night were amongst the first to sign up for the new Bottega Rotolo SA Loyalty card and enjoyed delicious Canapes and Prosecco served throughout the evening.

Thanks to all those who attended and who helped to get Christmas 2011 off to a fantastic start!!

Whether they were connoisseurs who wanted to discuss the finer points of winemaking and Prosecco, or curious enthusiasts who just wanted to find out about prosecco, around 50 people enjoyed an evening of antipasta and prosecco at Bottega Rotolo on Wednesday night. With visiting BISOL representative, Roberto Actis on hand to answer all manner of questions, and talking about Prosecco, everybody had a chance to chat and to hear him speak about the BISOL range.

BottegaSA – BISOL wines visit 21-22 September

The Export Director of Bisol wines, Roberto Actis, will be visiting Australia in September and spending a few days at each of the Bottega Rotolo stores. He will be in Adelaide on the 21st and 22nd and will be presenting a special Risotto class with Rosalie on Wednesday the 21st, as well as a tasting with antipasto on the Thursday the 22nd.

Lynne Chatterton was born in the Riverland – an irrigated farming zone in South Australia. She farmed grapes, fruit and vegetables under irrigation. She graduated from Adelaide University with a degree in Politics and History. Later she became a rural journalist and commentator for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and then Rural Policy Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture and later the Premier of South Australia. Lynne has travelled widely in India. She has worked in West Asia and North Africa as a consultant on farming for a number of international organisations. Lynne now lives with her husband Brian, in rural Umbria where she writes, cooks and they grows olives and other food. Her other books include “Sustainable Dryland Farming – combining farmer innovation and medic pasture in a Mediterranean Climate” published by Cambridge University press and her travel memoirs “Red Herrings” published by Pulcini Press.

“Lynne Chatterton is an Australian who now lives in Italy. She and her husband Brian have travelled widely and worked with farmers in the developing world. The book is a thoughtful distillation of her experiences. It is a book about food in the widest sense – how food is produced, the politics of food, how we shop, cook and eat – with many recipes interspersed in the text, printed in red so the eye can pick them out instantly.
It is unusual to be able to cook from recipes in a book that also tells one of “the backroom deals of pressure groups, special interests and political thuggery” that goes behind the scenes in “Foodland” – something that Lynne Chatterton is well qualified to speak of from first hand experience. having been, among other things, policy adviser in the 1970s to the then South Australian Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forests. Bottega Rotolo Book Launch

On Wednesday July 13th Bottega Rotolo SA was delighted to host the launch of Marion Grasby’s first book – “Marion: Recipes and Stories from a hungry cook.“ Given Marion’s close connection with Bottega Rotolo before her Masterchef adventures (and beyond), it was fantastic to be able to share in this occasion for her first book. Guests at the event enjoyed a cooking demonstration and tasted some recipes from the book. Marion also signed copies of the book for those attending. Thanks to Marion for sharing this special occasion with us. We wish her every success with the book and are sure there will be more to come…

Tea and Scones for a good cause…

On Friday June 10th, 140 people attended the Biggest Morning Tea held at Bottega Rotolo SA. Guests enjoyed beautiful TeaForte tea in silk infusers, along with freshly baked scones, Italian jams and Creme fraiche.

Kym Burls, a representative from the Cancer Council attended the event which raised over $1200. Raffles and door prizes were also held to raise extra funds for the cause. Prizes included a TeaForte gift pack, Bottega Rotolo bundle, and Cooking School vouchers. Winners were Chione Trueman, Michelle Antonio, Robert and Lou Lavis.

5 year old James Kemble assisted chef Jonathan Kemble in baking over 200 scones for the event.

Thanks to all those who attended on the day. We were delighted to raise over $1200 for the Cancer Council.

Donations can still be made in-store until the 20th of June.

Truffles and Birthday cake!

Our truffle celebration was a great success and we enjoyed seeing so many old friends as well as some new faces in the shop.

It was fitting to have Alessandro Bonino share in the occasion as an added and special bonus. The many people that spoke with him appreciated his expert knowledge and found his advice regarding truffles invaluable.

Established and initially operated by Rosalie Rotolo Hassan, it first opened in 1995.

Since 2010, Bottega Rotolo SA is run in partnership by Rosalie Rotolo Hassan and Gwénaël Le Chenadec.

Together and with their team, they bring an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience in Italian, French and around the world Cuisine.

Rosalie is a locally renowned Italian cooking sensation (you will be lucky to get into one of her classes!) and has personally selected many of the products on offer at Bottega Rotolo SA and interstates.
